Automatic page switching
Show the right keys for whichever app you're using, on every supported desktop.
How it works
Each page can be linked to windows using two patterns: the window class (which app it is) and the window title. When a focused window matches, StreamController loads that page on the decks you chose. Both patterns are regular expressions and default to .*, which matches anything.
Setting it up
- Open the Page Manager and select the page.
- In the automatic change section, turn it on.
- Enter a pattern for the window class, for example
spotifyorfirefox, and a title pattern if you need to be more specific. - Check the list of matching windows the editor shows; it updates as you type, so you can see the pattern is right.
- Pick which decks should switch, and whether the deck should stay on the page after you move to a window that doesn't match.
GNOME
GNOME on Wayland doesn't let apps see which window is focused. StreamController ships a small GNOME Shell extension that reports it, and offers to install it the first time you need it.
KDE Plasma
Install kdotool from your distribution or from source. StreamController uses it to ask KWin for the active window.
Hyprland and Sway
Supported directly through each compositor's IPC. Nothing to install.
X11
Any X11 session works, whatever the desktop or window manager.
Keys that should never change
Mark keys as sticky to keep them on every page, so a mic mute or home key stays put while everything around it switches.
Questions
Can my Stream Deck change pages when I switch apps on Linux?
Yes. StreamController switches pages based on the focused window on GNOME, KDE, Hyprland, Sway and X11.
