Stream Deck + on Linux

Dials, the touch strip and the eight keys all work in StreamController. This page covers how they map, and a few setups that make the most of them.

Stream Deck +Stream Deck + XL

Left: Stream Deck + (8 keys, 4 dials). Right: Stream Deck + XL (36 keys, 6 dials).

How the dials work

Select a dial in the app and you'll see separate slots for turning left, turning right and pressing. Put an action in each. A plugin like Volume Mixer fills all three at once: turn to change volume, press to mute.

The touch strip

The strip above the dials is split into one section per dial and shows what each dial is doing. It can also carry a background image; the store's wallpaper section has images sized for it.

Setups that suit the dials

  • App volumes: game, browser, voice chat and music, one per dial, with press-to-mute.
  • OBS: microphone and desktop audio levels on dials, scenes on the keys.
  • Lights: brightness and colour temperature for a Key Light on two dials.
  • Media: one dial for scrubbing tracks, another for volume.

Pages still apply

Dials belong to the page, like keys do. Switch to your editing page and the dials can change job entirely, including when pages switch automatically with the active window.

Questions

Do the Stream Deck + dials work on Linux?

Yes. In StreamController each dial can react to turning left, turning right and being pressed, and each can run different actions. The Volume Mixer plugin is the usual first use: one app per dial.

Does the touch strip work?

Yes. It shows content for the dials below it and can take its own wallpaper; the store has a section of wallpapers sized for the strip.

Is the Stream Deck + XL supported?

Yes. It's listed as supported, with its 36 keys, touch strip and six dials.
