What OpenDeck can do
OpenDeck covers what Elgato's Stream Deck app does day to day, runs most of its plugins, and is free and open source.
Stream Deck plugin support
OpenDeck implements the Stream Deck SDK, so the majority of plugins written for Elgato's app run in it unchanged. It also supports the open OpenAction API, which newer plugins use.
Plugins come from three places inside the app: a list of 220 open-source plugins, an archive of the old Elgato App Store, and any .streamDeckPlugin file you already have. Recommended plugins.
Profiles and automatic switching
Each deck has its own profiles, picked from the menu at the top right. Put a folder name and a slash in front of a profile name to group profiles into folders.
Profiles can switch on their own: choose an app, and OpenDeck changes to that profile whenever the app's window is active.
Multi actions and toggle actions
A multi action runs several actions in order from one key press: start recording, mute the mic and switch scene, for example. A toggle action alternates between two actions with each press.
Icons, labels and states
Right-click a key and choose Edit to change its image and text for each state. Click the image to pick a file from your PC; right-click it to go back to the plugin's own icon. Left-click a key to open its settings.
Built-in starter actions
OpenDeck ships with a starter pack: Run Command, Open URL, Simulate Input for key presses, Switch Profile and Device Brightness.
Dials and touch strips
The Stream Deck + and + XL dials and touch strip work, with plugins that support them. More on the Stream Deck +.
Several decks, and your phone
Connect more than one Stream Deck and each has its own profiles. With the Tacto plugin, a phone can act as an extra deck.
Same profiles on every computer
OpenDeck also runs on macOS and Linux, and profile files move between them without changes.
What to expect
- Not every Elgato plugin works. Plugins that depend on Elgato's own services or newest SDK features may not.
- It doesn't import profiles from Elgato's app. Set your keys up fresh; it's quick with the plugins already installed.
- It isn't made by Elgato, so Elgato support can't help with it. Use the troubleshooting steps instead.
Plug it in and start mapping keys.
OpenDeck is free and open source. Download the installer, run it, and plug your Stream Deck in.
