Installing StreamController
From one script to a manual setup, plus updating and removing.
Download and install
Get stream-deck.zip (4.0 MB, SHA-256 4685e41c3f87a8f22b80a432adb1ffc800d972e04f68e77660bde4c895ab239e), then:
$ unzip stream-deck.zip
$ cd stream-deck
$ ./install.shinstall.sh does four things, and you can read it before running it:
- Installs system packages with apt, dnf or pacman (GTK 4, libadwaita, libportal and build tools).
- Creates a Python environment in
stream-deck/.venvand installs the Python requirements. - Copies the Stream Deck udev rule to
/etc/udev/rules.d/60-streamdeck.rules. - Adds StreamController to your app menu.
Pages and settings are stored in ~/.var/app/com.core447.StreamController/data, outside the folder, so they survive updates.
Installing by hand
Install your distribution's system packages first (Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch). Then, from the stream-deck folder:
$ python3 -m venv .venv
$ .venv/bin/pip install -r requirements.txt
$ .venv/bin/python main.pyUpdating
Download the new zip, extract it to a fresh folder, run ./install.sh again and delete the old folder.
Starting with your session
StreamController can start at login so the deck is ready without opening the window. To start it hidden from your own autostart entry, pass -b:

$ rm -r ~/stream-deck # or wherever you extracted itDelete ~/.var/app/com.core447.StreamController as well if you want your pages gone too.
Questions

In ~/.var/app/com.core447.StreamController/data. Back up that folder, or use the Page Manager's Export All, to keep your setup.
How do I uninstall it?
